Kinjohro History

1887 Kyubei Tsuchiya opened a restaurant called “Tsubafuku” in Misogura-machi, Kanazawa.
March 1, 1890 Kyubei Tsuchiya opened a restaurant called Kinjohro in the former mansion site of Takatoshi Maeda (the present location), and placed a grand opening advertisement in the Hokkoku newspaper.
June 5, 1897 Kinjohro invited Hekigoto Kawahigashi, an innovator of the Haiku world, to hold a Hokusei-kai gathering.
April to November 1901 Construction of a new Kinjohro building.
September 8 to 10, 1901 Kinjoro purchased the residential site of the next door neighbor, Shozo Shiromori, and opened the newly built Kinjohro.
Tatami mats used in the residence of Higashino-toin in Kyoto were brought in.
May 1, 1908 Kinjohro purchased a telephone subscription. It was the 41st subscriber in the year of Meiji 41. The fee was 5 yen.
March to May 1924 Kyubei Tsuchiya made occasional donations for the reconstruction of the Otani Sect Kanazawa Betsuin branch temple main hall.
March 1928 Kinjoro’s annex, Fujian was built to cerebrate the imperial enthronement.
January to June 1930 Kyubei Tsuchiya made occasional donations for the construction of the Higashi Betsuin branch temple main hall for the 650th memorial service for the founder priest.
December 12 to 14, 1936 Kyubei Tsuchiya made occasional donations like white rice to the Kanazawa Aid Foundation to help starving people.
February 2, 1939 Kyubei Tsuchiya passed away. The funeral was held on the 4th.
Around 1944 Kinjohro was used as the Ishikawa pre-training center for defense mobilization.
October 3, 1947 The Ishikawa Entertainment Business Association made a petition to the government to lift the suspension of business implemented during the war.
Mokichi Tsuchiya signed the petition as the chairman of the Federation of the Ishikawa Cookery Unions.
December 10, 1948 Mokichi Tsuchiya was elected as a member of the Kanazawa Chamber of Commerce.
July 10, 1958 Kinjohro was incorporated as Kinjohro Co., Ltd, and Mokichi Tsuchiya became its first president.
October 15, 1958 The renovation of the Kinjohro main restaurant was completed.
November 1958 Mokichi Tsuchiya, the president of Kinjohro, received the Health and Welfare Minister Award for his contribution to food hygiene.
November 1960 Kinjohro Co., Ltd received the Health and Welfare Minister Award for facility excellence.
April 1962 An annex for Kinjoro’s ryokan accommodation was built. It received certification by the Japan Ryokan Association.
March 1964 The branch restaurant, “Takanoha” was opened in the Kiya building in Katamachi, Kanazawa.
August 1987 Sotoharu Tsuchiya became the chairman, and Shintaro Tsuchiya became the 3rd president.
October 22, 1989 Sotoharu Tsuchiya passed away.
February 1990 Kinjoro was newly built to commemorate its 100th anniversary. Karin-an, a Charyo teahouse was also opened.
December 1997 A convention hall, “The Heisei Room” was opened in the basement.
The “Shunsai Kobo” store was opened in the basement food section of Meitetsu M’za (the former Meitetsu Marukoshi Department Store).
June 1998 Commencement of the “Asanogawa Beer Hall” during the summer season.
November 2004 Commencement of the “Asanogawa-tei” during the autumn and winter seasons.
